Op woensdag 22 juli gaan Daan de Wit, Maarten van Rossem en anderen in debat. Het thema is Obamania: Kan Obama de wereld redden? En het klimaat, Irak, Afghanistan, Iran, de Palestijnen, de banken, de Amerikaanse gezondheidszorg, enz… De 20e editie van de Gentse feestdebatten is onderdeel van de 40ste Gentse Feesten.

MAARTEN VAN ROSSEM - Bijzonder hoogleraar geschiedenis em., Universiteit Utrecht, gespecialiseerd in de geschiedenis en politiek van de VS, auteur van o.a. De Verenigde Staten in de 20 ste eeuw, Amerika, voor en tegen en Drie oorlogen, een kleine geschiedenis van de 20ste eeuw.

BART KERREMANS - Hoogleraar internationale betrekkingen en Amerikaanse politiek aan de KU Leuven. Was gastprofessor aan de George Washington University. Is auteur van De Verenigde Staten van Amerika doorgelicht, een analyse van het Amerikaanse politieke systeem.
