Ahmadinejad: US plans to attack two countries in Middle East

Ahmadinejad: US and Israel plot wars within three months

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak has warned that Tel Aviv would "hit any target that belongs to the Lebanese state, not just to Hezbollah," should violence break out the next time.

Barak issued the remark in an interview with the Washington Post on Monday, despite Lebanon's repeated dismissal of accusations that it fires rockets into Israel.

Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement says such allegations are part of Israel's propaganda, which aims to justify another invasion.
This is while on the same day, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the United States and Israel plan to attack two countries in the Middle East as part of a conspiracy to apply pressure on the Islamic Republic.

"We have precise information that the Americans have devised a plot, according to which they seek to launch a psychological war on Iran," President Ahmadinejad said in an exclusive interview with Press TV.

Ralph Schoenman, author of "Hidden History of Zionism," spoke to Press TV about the issue.

Below is the transcript of the interview:

Press TV: The Iranian President's remarks come as Ehud Barak has threatened an attack on Lebanon. How would this spell out coupled with the fact that countries including Lebanon and Syria are considered enemy countries under Israeli law?

Ralph Schoenman: Well, I think we have to keep in mind that the Israeli state has been in a state of a perpetual war with the people of the Arab world. It is not a question of one period or another period. It is always a matter of the next round. The Israelis are in a permanent process of trying to remove the Palestinian people from wherever they may be, in refugee camps scattered across the region, to which they have been driven by the massacres which enabled the formation of the Zionist state in the first place.

I think we should put this most present threat, in the context of an article that appeared in the New York Times on 26 May, citing a seven page document entitled joint unconventional warfare task force executive order whereby General David Petraeus who then was the chief of US Central Command, ordered the expansion of military operations throughout the Middle East, Central Asia and the Horn of Africa; and as the New York Times commented at the time, essentially providing the US military with a blank check to carry out acts against virtually any country.

Now, the acts that the US carries out in the region are always in conjunction with the Zionist state. And I think we have to take note of the fact that in today's Ha'aretz there is an article stating that, Benjamin Netanyahu is being urged to make a threat to use nuclear weapons against Iran, as a means of putting pressure or providing cover for Barack Obama, to launch an attack upon Iran, at least with conventional weapons in its first phase.

All of this war mongering and constant speculation and constant inducement of public opinions to consider the inevitability of such an attack is part of the strategy, the regression and imperial hubris that characterizes the behavior of both the Zionist state and its masters in the US imperium, because we must keep in mind as well that in today's news is the leak of 92,000 documents disclosing the nature of the relentless, barbaric war that the US has waged against the people of Afghanistan, and it comes as well at a moment when the authors of a new study - cancer, infant mortality and birth-sex ratio in Fallujah from 2005-2009 disclose that there is a higher rate of radiation poisoning and cancer in Fallujah than in Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.

This horrific documentation of the nature of the weaponry used by the United States and indeed by the Israelis in the region is an indication of the menace to the peoples of the world that these threats of new war represent.

There is an epidemic of birth deformities in Iraq, consequent upon the relentless use of radiological, chemical and biologically altering weapons in Fallujah, but not alone in Fallujah but in Iraq at large.

Press TV: The two recent wars waged by Israel: one in Gaza and the other in south Lebanon with the Hezbollah, saw Israeli forces defeated. With Israel's record as it stands, how politically smart is it for Israel to attack any country?

Ralph Schoenman: Well, it is never smart in the sense that human beings would consider intelligence to be a work here. But we are dealing with the predation of aggressive imperial regimes and states. I think we have to keep in mind that even when Israeli soldiers suffer defeats on the ground, the Israelis and the United States, always plan to use vast and devastating force from the air; weaponry of such terrible, destructive character that can devastate the infrastructure of an entire society, even if their troops happen to suffer a defeat on the ground in the short term.

The looming costs of these wars of predation and imperialism, and the aggressive Zionist regime take a toll on humanity and it is a perpetual danger until these regimes are removed from history.

Why is Syria under attack? - Part 1
On the surface it’s straightforward: the U.S. wants to liberate Syria from a brutal dictator who is attacking his own people with poison gas. But beneath the surface there is something very different going on.
